Your privacy
Privacy Policy
The short version — we don't track you. No accounts, no cookies, no ads. We only receive what you choose to send us.
The short version
- You don't need an account to use D.I.K., and we don't offer one.
- We don't use cookies, tracking pixels, advertising networks, or third-party analytics.
- Answers you give in the resource finder stay in your web browser. They are never sent to us or stored by us.
- We collect only what you choose to send us, such as an email or a resource suggestion. We don't sell, rent, or share it.
Browsing the site
D.I.K. is a static website: a set of pages delivered to your browser. There is no database and no login. You don't have to give us your name, address, phone number, case details, or any other personal information to use the site. The directory filters and site search run in your browser; the words you type into them are not sent to us and are not saved in the page address. Search works by downloading small index files from this site. The topic, location, and cost you pick in the directory are saved in the page address so you can share a filtered list, which means they can appear in your browser history.
The resource finder
The guided finder runs entirely in your browser. Your answers (for example, your situation, what you need, and your state or county) are used only to filter the list on your screen. They are not sent over the internet, not saved by us, and are cleared when you close or reload the page. If we ever offer an optional "remember my answers" setting, it will store them only on your own device, it will be off by default, and we will update this policy first.
Information collected by our hosting provider
D.I.K. is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. Like nearly every website host, Cloudflare automatically processes basic technical information about each visit in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse and attacks. According to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy, this can include your IP address, traffic routing data, system configuration information, and other information about traffic to and from the site, kept in standard server and security logs. We do not use this information to identify or track visitors. We have not added any analytics, including Cloudflare's own Web Analytics. If we ever add analytics, they will be cookieless, and we will update this policy before they are turned on. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs how Cloudflare handles this information.
Information you choose to send us
Resource suggestions. The "Suggest a Resource" form is a Google Form. Our Suggest a Resource page links to it; the form isn't embedded in our site, so it opens on Google's website, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to what you enter there. You can also send suggestions by email instead. Answers are stored in the D.I.K. owner's Google account and are seen only by the people who review suggestions. We ask about the organization and program, such as its name, official website, and what it offers. Your email address is optional and is used only if we need to ask a follow-up question. The form does not collect your email automatically. Please don't include personal details about yourself, your family, or a court case, and the form will not ask for your age or for information about children.
Emails. If you email us at jerrypie25@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, and we won't add you to any mailing list without your clear permission.
How long we keep it. We keep resource suggestions and emails for 6 months, and then we delete them.
Correcting or deleting what you sent
You can ask us to correct or delete a suggestion or message you sent. Email jerrypie25@gmail.com and tell us roughly when you sent it and from which address, and we will do it and confirm by reply.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because D.I.K. does not track visitors across sites or over time, and uses no cookies or analytics, there is nothing for that signal to turn off; the site works the same either way.
Links to other websites
D.I.K. links to official government sites, nonprofits, and other organizations. When you follow a link, you leave our site, and that site's own privacy practices apply. Please review them before sharing personal information.
Children's privacy
D.I.K. is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us information, we will delete it.
Future optional subscription
We may one day offer an optional paid subscription for extra features. Essential resources will always remain free and available without an account. If we add a subscription, payment would be handled by a payment provider, and we will update this policy before it launches to explain exactly what is collected and why.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
